Things I Love - No. 3 Sunrise and Sunset

My most favorite times of the day are sunrise and sunset.  I grouped them together, because one completes the other.  As an artist, painting a sunrise or sunset challenges me, but nothing is like the real thing.  I have paint, which goes a long way to putting an image on canvas or paper, even without brushes.  How the airy canvas of the sky turns colors is nothing but a miracle, every day! Here are some of my favorites.

May 16 Sunrise - Painting A Day

This morning's sunrise, fresh and on paper!

The sun had just broken out of a fog bank across the water, and this glorious picture emerged. I just had to whip out my watercolors and try to paint what I saw. Of course, what is my paint and brush rendition compared to the glory of the actual beauty of a God-given sunrise?

Another Dawn, Another Chance

I just love sunrises and sunsets. I used to say that sunset was my absolute favorite time of day. Situated where we are now, I see many more sunrises than sunsets, and I am equally in awe of them, but the mood set by dusk strikes a melancholy chord; whereas, dawn is hopeful. There is the hope that with the new day, perhaps I can get it right this time.

This painting, Another Dawn, Another Chance reminds me that we serve a loving God who gives us chance, after chance to show love instead of indifference, impatience, selfishness, shyness, busyness, anxiety, and a bunch of other not-so-pleasing qualities we use to not be bothered with our neighbors on the planet.
